I gave Vegeteamble a shot mostly because the idea of fruit and vegetables fighting each other sounded ridiculous enough to be interesting. Turns out, there's more to it than I expected.
A few thoughts after playing:
If you're into smaller indie games and enjoy trying out different strategies, this one might be worth a look.
A few thoughts after playing:
- The concept is weird, in a good way. It's hard not to smile at the character theme. Definitely not the usual setting you see in strategy games.
- Building a team is where the fun is. I enjoyed messing around with different characters and equipment to figure out which combinations worked best.
- Progression feels rewarding. Upgrading your setup gives you a reason to keep experimenting rather than sticking with the same approach every time.
- The combat gets the job done. It's easy enough to understand without spending ages learning the basics. That said, more varied boss mechanics would make battles stand out more.
- Co-op is a welcome addition. Playing with a friend and comparing team setups sounds like a good way to get more out of the game.
- There's room to improve. I'd like to see more content and variety in future updates, especially when it comes to characters and combat.
