Trong tiếng anh, một số trạng từ có thể được đặt ở đầu câu,đòi hỏi sự nghịch đảo của động từ (sử dụng dạng câu hỏi của động từ chính)Việc đó gọi là sự nghịch đảo.
1.Hardly/scarcely:hiếm khi-hầu như không
Ex;+he hardly went out.
or:Hardly did he go out
+The train hardly had left the sation since the explosion happened
or:Hardly had train left the staíonince the explosion happened
2.Seldom/rarely:ít khi ,hiếm khi
Ex:I have seldom seen better roses than these
or;Seldom have I seen better roses than these
3.never:chưa bao giờ
4.No sooner...than:ngay khi...thì
Ex:No sooner had she opened the door than the thief fled
5.Only then:chỉ sau đó
Exnly then did Iknow the truth
6.Only by+Ving=Only this way:chỉ bằng cách
7.Only when st happened did :chỉ khi ....xảy ra..mới...
Exnly when I came home I realize I had left my key at the office
8.Not until st happened did sb:cho đến khi xảy ra mới
9.Hardly/scarcely+had st VPII+When/before st happened :vừa mới...thì đã
Ex:Hardly had he reached the station when the train started
10.Nowhere:không nơi nào
Ex:Nowhere will you find more beautiful roses than these
11.On no account,on no condition:không vì lí do gì,bất luận htế nào

12.In no circumstances:không đời nào,không bao giờ
Ex:In no circumstances should you lèd him any money
13.So/such....that:đến nỗi mà
Ex:So famous did he become that everybody knew his name
14.So/neither/nor
Ex:So am I

15.Notonly...butalso:không những ...mà còn...
Ex:Not only is she beauuiful but she also studies well.
