Comparative and superlative adjectives.

+-er/-est ADJECTIVE COMPARATIVE SUPERLATIVE
We add-er/-est to
short adjectives.(one long longer the longest
-syllable adjecttives)
tall taller the tallest

young younger the youngest

-g -gger
With short adjectives that end
with one vowel and one consonant(e.g.big),
we double the consonant:
EX: big bigger the biggest

hot hotter the hottest

fat fatter the fattest


more/most
We use more/the most before
adjectives of two or more syllables.

EX:expensive more expensive the most espensive

y-ier/iest
But note that with adjectives ending
with-y(e.g.happy),we change - y to-ier
/-iest:
EX: easy easier the easiest

Irregular adj:
EX: good better the best

bad worse the worst
