With the rapid changes in the types and patterns of work, an increasing number of people choose to work at home instead of working offline at the office. In my opinion, the benefits of this phenomenon significantly eclipse its drawbacks for the following rationales

On the one hand, it is justifiable that working at home may result in some undesired results. Working from home may give employees a sense of isolation because they have no chance of communicating with their colleagues. Gradually, this would have adverse impacts on interpersonal skills, such as teamwork skills or communication skills, and may even lead to mental problems. In fact, in the post-COVID pandemic, some people encounter difficulties when returning to their offline work, which may be caused by a lingering period of self-isolation at home. Furthermore, the work performance of people who work from home can be significantly lessened. This is because work-at-home people can be distracted from a multitude of other things, which means that they cannot completely concentrate on their assignments, leading to a reduction in progress. In addition to this, people lack self-discipline, it will lead to a gradual decrease in the productivity of work and adversely affect the results of the whole team or even the company.

On the other hand, I argue that the benefits gained are much weightier. One of the main advantages is that it is time-saving. This is because people do not waste time commuting each day going to work and then back home. As a matter of fact, in some metropolises like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh, it normally takes workers hours to arrive at their houses or workplace, and this is even worse during peak hours. This not only wastes their time but also causes certain mental and physical health problems. It is obviously not the case with work-from-home employees. Furthermore, working from home provides people with a suitable working environment and flexible work schedule, which allows them to spend their time in a more reasonable and efficient way. After completing the task, they could have time to do the things they enjoy, which in a long run can result in higher job satisfaction.

In conclusion, despite the disadvantages regarding mental issues and distractions, I am completely in favour of working at home due to time-saving and productivity.
