Hezbollah claimed to have launched a series of rockets at the 8200 military intelligence unit’s base near Tel Aviv, Israel’s economic and technological hub, on October 7. While the group didn’t specify the number of rockets, Israel’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that five long-range rockets were fired from Lebanon toward central Israel, with some intercepted and the remainder landing in open areas, causing no casualties or significant damage.

Israeli media reported that air raid sirens sounded three times across central Israel on October 7, following missile and rocket attacks from Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen. Hezbollah alone fired approximately 190 rockets into Israeli territory that day, mostly targeting northern Israel. These attacks coincided with the anniversary of the 2023 Israel-Hamas conflict, during which armed groups from Gaza crossed the border into Israel, killing over 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostages.

Unit 8200, part of Israel’s Defense Intelligence Directorate, is responsible for cyber warfare and signal intelligence, similar to the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA). The unit is known for several high-profile operations, including the Stuxnet virus attack on Iran’s nuclear centrifuges and other cyber missions in the Middle East.

This was not the first time Hezbollah targeted the 8200 base at Glilot. On October 1, the group launched Fadi-4 rockets at the same base and the headquarters of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency. While some rockets were intercepted, at least one hit a highway near Kafr Qasim, injuring two people.

Recent clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have intensified, particularly after Israel assassinated senior Hezbollah officials, including Hassan Nasrallah, the group's supreme leader, and launched limited ground operations into southern Lebanon. Hezbollah responded with continuous rocket and missile attacks on northern Israel and border skirmishes with Israeli forces.
