SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE MASTER PROGRAM OF SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT

SCHOLARSHIPS FROM DAAD FOR 2015 INTAKE

- For the 1st study year, students have the opportunity to get a scholarship of 3.400 EURO for the tuition fee and living expenses.

- For the 2nd study year, the best 30% students will get scholarship of 5.500 EURO to Germany for Master thesis in 6 months (including airfare and living expenses)

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 60% OF STUDENTS

VGU's merit scholarships are given on annual basis, based on VGU’s intake result for the 1st year and the GPA of the 1st study year (average of all modules in the schedule of the program) for the 2nd year.

The best students will get scholarships as follows:
- The best 10% students will get scholarships of 100% of the tuition fee.
- The next best 20% students will get scholarships of 50% of the tuition fee.
- The next best 30% students will get scholarships of 25% of the tuition fee.

VGU’s Intake Result = GPA of the Bachelor Degree (weighed 40%) + VGU Entrance Test Score (weighed 30%) + VGU English Test (weighed 30%)
For the 2nd year, in order to be ranked for the scholarships, students must have IELTS 6.0 and a GPA of the first year of at least 7.0. Only exam scores of the first exam will be counted.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

An admission prerequisite for every student is a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in

- Spatial Planning
- Urban Planning
- Architecture
- Civil Engineering
- Geodesy
- Geography
- or an equivalent degree.

The acceptance of the degree will be decided by the director of the study program, occasionally in coordination with the involved lecturers.

The BSc-degree should comprise a minimum of 12 CP in Sustainable Urban Development related courses and activities, and the final evaluation mark should be at least "good" (grade 2.5 in Germany, 6.0-6.5 in Vietnam) or equivalent.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) is a full-time two-year (4-Semester) Master Programme offered at VGU by the TU Darmstadt. The lecture’s language is English.
Regarding the sustainable development of urban and rural areas, these four domains are considered as well. Sustainable urban development refers to attaining social equity and environmental protection while minimizing the costs and risks of spatial development.

1. Environmental urban development:
- Infrastructure systems in urban development
- Ecological Management in urban development
- Green buildings
- Urban Construction Technologies
- Traffic planning and management modules

2. Economic:
- Economics of Urban Development
- Instruments of Spatial Planning
- Urban Construction Technologies

3. Social, society and culture:
- Government and Governance
- Urban-rural-partnerships

4. Planning instruments:
- CAD, GIS, 3D-Modelling
- Methodology of empirical analysis
- English scientific writing

5. The Multidisciplinary project and seminar “sustainable urban development” will link all the fields and objects and will prepare the students for the job market.

TUITION FEES FOR 2015 INTAKE

VGU is a university project from the Vietnamese and German governments. Thus, the tuition fees are substantially subsidized by the two governments and are very attractive considering the high quality education offer

Tuition Fee Policy of VGU

Our tuition fees remain constant for the whole intake and cover all costs of enrollment and examination during the regular duration of the whole program.

Tuition fees and scholarship-system in 2015

Both the tuition fees and scholarships only apply for the new intake of 2015!So if you have started in an earlier intake, your original fees and scholarships remain valid during the regular duration of your program. Only if you want to change from an earlier intake to the new intake of 2015, the tuition fees for 2015 apply to you also.

Tuition fees in 2015: 25,000,000 VND

The tuition fee also includes the following facility and services (students can choose):

Option 1: Accommodation in a 4-bed room in dormitory + additional shuttle bus on Monday morning from HCMC to Binh Duong and Friday afternoon from Binh Duong to HCMC. Students can live in a 2-bed room against a surcharge of 350.000 VND/month.
OR
Option 2: No dormitory, but daily shuttle bus between HCMC and Binh Duong.
OR
Option 3: Students who don't take either Option 1 or Option 2 will pay 23.000.000 VND per semester.
