It was such an unforgettable summer camp. When I was called “teacher” and was a part between all teachers to take responsibility of educating the next generation. I had never thought that I could be able to be a mountain climber until I surprisingly climbed the Xiangshan mountain successfully! At first I thought that I might be too tired to stop before reach the mountain, however, when the responsibility of a “teacher” who had to in charge of taking care of some children to prevent risk, when my left hand was taking the seven years old naughty boy’s hand, when my right hand was taking the twelve years old girl who had just fell on street and wanted to stop the adventure, I suddenly empowered to keep climbing with those children, as a teacher, a sister.
I met new people who are my “friends” with all meanings: they told me more about China culture, geography, society, and also shared with me the dreams as a youth, the dream of being able to take care of their family, to devote for their beloved hometown; at that moment, I felt that the world is big enough to include so many new things I have to learn, and it is also small enough to give me a chance to make friend with different friends, we have difference in nationalities, but we met each other in the dream of developing ourselves and community.
Through the internship, I have some lessons for myself about different fields: education, culture, leadership and so on. It also inspired me to recognize the value of life, to keep trying my best for my dream, and to make my family believe more about my ability when living independently.

I have just come back from the 6-week internship to Jakarta, Indonesia but everything seemed to happen yesterday because I can remember everything clearly.
I miss my host family. They were so nice to me and took care of me like a son in a big family with 14 members including me and my roommate from Czech Republic. I call them papa and mama and they seemed like my second parents. Papa said that “Now I have 5 sons: Dias, Inas, Araz, Hafis and Phu…” while mama always reminded me everytime I went to work or went out with my friends “Be careful and don’t get lost. If you get lost, I will cry”… Fortunately, I never got lost and made mama cry. Once, I came home so late about 11o’clock after going out with my friends in projects, mama was sitting and waiting for me, then prepare the dinner for me. I felt so guilty at that time and I nearly cried because of mama’s sad face. In HCMC, I live far from my parents but in this summer, they were really a second family. When mama cooked some traditional foods, she told me to invite other friends from my projects to have dinner, then we sang, played piano, guitar together. It seemed like a family concert with full of laugh and happiness.
My project is about teaching children in a poor area in Jakarta. Everyday I went there by motorbike driver, then ancok (1 type of public transportation in Indonesia) and train. It’s quite far but I often went with other friends in my projects and we could talk with each other so the distance seemed to be shorter. I never imagine that I would be a teacher for foreign children before and be very happy to see their smiles and their brilliant face when learning something new. I have many international friends in my project and other projects. We usually talked about our countries, our cultures and sang together. I and my international friends in the project really become close friends because there seems to be no distance between us anymore after going karaoke together, telling jokes, exploring Jakarta and travelling together.
The ending day of our project was so sad. Both pupils and teachers have too much emotion. We just hugged each other and cried, cried a lot. Nobody wanted to say goodbye. I don’t know why we have just known each other for about more than 1 month but our relationship is so close like that. The children, friends and my host family gave me so many gifts to bring back and told me to remember them everytime I look at those things. Papa and mama invite me to stay until the end of August to travel with family but I cannot stay longer because of my class in Vietnam. They are very sad and invite me to come back their house everytime I want.
My project in this summer is so meaningful for me!
