United Nations - Every year, thousands of women in Bangladesh die from avoidable causes related to childbirth. The majority of women still give birth at home, where lack of access to a skilled nurse can mean the difference between life and death. An initiative supported by the UN Population Fund is helping women get skilled delivery assistance and pre-natal care in their own communities.
