1: at any time (bất cứ lúc nào, từ trước đến giờ, từng, bao giờ)

Ex:
The crime rate is higher now than it has ever been.

That was the worst movie I ever saw. (Đó là bộ phim tệ nhất tôi đã từng xem qua)
Has this ever been done before?
That was my best vacation ever. [=the best vacation I have ever had]
He's a born politician if ever I saw one. [=he is certainly a born politician]
I don't ever want to do that again. = (informal) I don't want to ever do that again. = I don't want to do that again, ever!

2 (formal) : at all times (luôn luôn)
Ex:
He is ever [=always] faithful. (Anh ấy luôn luôn trung thành)
moving ever westward (luôn luôn di chuyển về phía Tây)

3: to a greater degree (diễn tả mức độ sâu hơn)
Ex:

Millions of farmers were forced into ever-deeper debt during the Great Depression.

4 — used after words like where, who, how, and why to make a question more forceful
Ex:
How ever can I (possibly) thank you? (Làm thế nào để tôi có thể cám ơn bạn đây ?)
What ever happened to my former classmates?
Where ever did I put my keys? (Tôi đã để chài khóa ở đâu nhỉ.?)

“I can't do that.” “Why ever not?” (Tại sao không nhỉ?)
Who ever would want to go there? — also used in indirect questions

5 (US, informal) — used to give stress to what follows
Ex:
Wow, was he ever funny! [=he was very funny]
Am I ever embarrassed! [=I am very embarrassed]

AS EVER: as has always been true : as usual (như thường lệ, luôn luôn)
Ex: The problem, as ever, is to find a better way to control spending.

EVER AFTER (old-fashioned): from that time forward (mãi mãi về sau)
Ex

Fairy tales sometimes end by saying that the characters in the story lived happily ever after.

The phrase live happily ever after is also used to describe real people who are being compared in some way to characters in a fairy tale.
